How to Time Block Your Day So That You Aren't Overwhelmed
Have you thought of the things you had to do for your 9-5 job, your household, and your wedding business, and thought “there’s just no way it’s all getting done.” Or maybe you have thought, "there is so much to do, you won’t make a dent in the to-do list, so you decide not to even start because you are feeling so overwhelmed. Well, if you are shaking your head yes, then know that you are in good company. I know exactly how you feel!
It wasn’t until someone introduced me to the concept of time-blocking and showed me how to do it, that I was able to tackle the overwhelm and start getting things accomplished.
How to Time Block
Here are 5 ways that you can start time blocking, and beat the overwhelm - as soon as tomorrow!
Have realistic expectations - If you have obligations after work (children, exercise, personal projects) that are a priority, be mindful you might only have 1 or 2 hours to spend on your wedding business. And that is O.K!
Organize your priorities from most important to least important - and work on them in that order.
Group your tasks so that you can work efficiently. Batch content, such as blogs, social media content, and responding to clients so that you can get in a groove and knock those tasks out quickly.
Do 1 task at a time. No multi-tasking over here. You will quickly find out that doing tasks one at a time actually will save you time instead of trying to do multiple at the same time.
Schedule out you time at the beginning of the day or week, and try to follow that plan closely. That way you are making time for the most important things first.
